The Pipasha

Pipasha has been serving the very best in Indian and Bangladeshi food since 1999. The secret to our longevity is we keep it simple: unparalleled service paired with delicious food and an intimate ambience – a setting truly reflective of its 25 years of achievements.

We moved to the UK in 1975 from Sylhet in Bangladesh. Our journey in the catering business began from the moment we arrived, working for several years in various restaurants until we founded Pipasha.

Eventually, after gaining enough experience, we felt there was an increasing demand in Cambridge for a restaurant which would provide quality food with great service at a reasonable price. That’s why we opened Pipasha, which is now one of the most well-known and much-loved restaurants in Cambridge.

The restaurant was previously a very popular and renowned pub called the Globe. Pipasha means thirsty in Bengali, we felt the name perfectly encapsulated the past and future.

We want to personally thank our wonderful customers, many we regard as our friends for their continued custom, support and friendship. We are proud to still be serving diners, who have been coming to us since the day we opened.

Community & Charity

The Pipasha donate a meal scheme officially was introduced during the pandemic. It has been an amazing and rewarding experience for us all. We introduced the scheme to allow our customers to feel a part of the work we do in our community, we wanted to allow everyone to be involved. Especially at a time, people felt lonely and uninvolved due to the restrictions.

Pipasha pioneered a system, that allowed customers to add a donation along with their takeaway order. The donation was matched by Pipasha and food and essential items were brought and donated to community organisations. Other restaurants locally followed our lead and also adopted the same methods for the benefit of the community.
The team at Pipasha worked with many organisations, including;
Cambridge Community Football Trust. Cambridge Sustainable Food and local food hubs, Cambridge Food Poverty Alliance &
Jimmy’s Shelter and more.

The generosity of our customers allowed us to provide food for the vulnerable, elderly, key-workers, charity organisations, low-in-come families, front line workers and many more.
We could not have done this without the help and support of our community partners.

In celebration of our momentous 25 year anniversary, we underwent an extensive interior refurbishment in January 2018. Our vision is to offer our diners a superior dining experience, we understand the interior decor along with food and service is very important. The outcome is a sleek and luxurious design but still in keeping with our intimate and relaxed ambience. A setting where passion has blossomed, families have come together and creativity has grown for two decades.

Our Food

Our menu is true to traditional Indian and Banqladeshi cooking that everyone loves with elements of contemporary cuisine, unique to Pipasha. We have something for everyone.
In the kitchen, dishes are prepared using the finest seasonal ingredients and employ both classic and modern techniques. Our chefs are highly experienced and passionate about food. We believe the passion shows in our food and is what has customers addicted to us for two decades

“From being greeted at the door by the friendly, attentive staff members to the restaurant being clean throughout has made our visit particularly enjoyable. It’s maintained by the staff to a great standard. The food was fantastic. Both of our starters and mains were delightful, especially the chicken rezella. We have had a great night and cannot wait to revisit soon!”
